Map of the Whitsunday plan area
A map of the Whitsunday draft water resource plan area (PDF, 144K)* is available for download. The plan area includes the Proserpine, O’Connell and Andromache rivers and Thompson Creek subcatchments.
Draft water resource plan
The Whitsunday draft Water Resource Plan and overview report (PDF, 2.1M)* was released on 5 September 2008. The overview report explains the draft plan contents and will assist anyone interested in making a submission on the draft plan.
Accompanying the draft water resource plan release was an announcement of the minister’s intention to prepare a draft resource operations plan for the Whitsunday plan area. Submissions may also be made on the intention to prepare a draft resource operations plan.
Community reference panel
A community reference panel (CRP) was established for the draft plan. The CRP provided recommendations on community needs for the draft plan.

Moratorium and amended moratorium notice
On 20 March 2006, the Minister declared a moratorium (PDF, 361K)* on water licence applications and the construction of works in the plan area.
This moratorium was amended on 5 September 2008. Water users are now required to comply with the amended notice (PDF, 357K)*. The amended moratorium information sheet provides a guide to this notice.
