Understanding Water Resource Planning

The Understanding water resource planning (PDF, 239K)* brochure  explains how water resource plans are structured under the Water Act 2000 to deliver new levels of sustainability for river ecosystems and certainty for water users. Also explained is how environmental objectives set out in a water resource plan will be secured through a resource operations plan that will establish day-to-day river management rules and a framework for trading water allocations.
