Water resource plan
The Water Resource (Baffle Creek Basin) Plan 2010 (PDF)* commenced on 5 November 2010, following consideration of submissions on the draft plan. Explanatory notes (PDF)* accompany the plan.
Overland flow notification process
The Water Resource (Baffle Creek Basin) Plan 2010 requires that an owner of land on which existing overland flow works are situated, with a capacity of greater than 20 megalitres, provides the chief executive with notice of the works on the approved form. This also includes notification of works for stock and domestic purposes, capturing contaminated agricultural run-off and storages required to meet the conditions of an environmental authority under the Environmental Protection Act 1994.
The following fact sheets are available to provide more information on determining the size of an overland flow storage -
- Excavated tanks and ring tanks (PDF, 181K)*
- Gully dams (PDF, 178K)*
- Farm dam construction (PDF, 146K)*
Landowners required to notify the chief executive of their overland flow works are encouraged to submit the details on the approved form as soon as possible.
Failure to notify of works could result in the unauthorised take of overland flow water.
Resource operations plan
The Baffle Creek Basin Resource Operations Plan (PDF, 596K)* was approved on 1 December 2011 and commenced on 5 December 2011.
The plan implements the Water Resource (Baffle Creek Basin) Plan 2010 by:
- establishing a process for releasing and granting unallocated water
- amending existing water licences to include volumetric limits
- establishing processes for granting and amending overland flow water licences
- specifying monitoring and reporting requirements.
Explanatory notes (PDF, 175K)* accompany the plan.
Community consultation
A consultation report (PDF, 271K)* documents how issues raised in submissions on the draft Baffle Creek Basin Resource Operations Plan were considered and dealt with in finalising the plan.
