Where are Queensland's Flying-foxes?
These maps show the general locations of all known flying-fox roost sites in Queensland. The map locations are based on Geographic Position System (GPS) readings taken by Environmental Protection Agency staff. (Please remember that flying-foxes may occasionally relocate their roost sites within these general locations.)
These roost sites are used by one or more of the following species:
Black flying-fox Pteropus alecto
Grey-headed flying-fox Pteropus poliocephalus
Little red flying-fox Pteropus scapulatus
Spectacled flying-fox Pteropus conspicillatus
Permanent roost sites are shown by a red dot on the maps. Permanent roosts include roosts that are used by flying-foxes at all times throughout the year or regularly (e.g. seasonally) over an extended number of years. The exact location of a permanent roost may vary from year to year within a small area.
Roost sites that are used irregularly are shown by a yellow dot on the maps.
