Roost monitoring program

With the aid of volunteers, the department has regularly monitored flying-fox roosts in South East Queensland since 2007. Other parts of Queensland are monitored opportunistically, when new roosts are reported and in response to emerging issues. In South East Queensland, the department visits majority of known roosts on a monthly basis and additional sites that are more difficult to access, quarterly.
