Carer's Kit

Welcome to the The Carer's Kit, a Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service information resource for wildlife rehabilitators.

Caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife is a task that requires skill and commitment. There are more than 2000 wildlife carers across Queensland who rescue and rehabilitate thousands of native animals each year.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service recognises that carers play an important role in rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife. As such, The Carer's Kit was developed to help carer's access information that will help them provide the best possible care to their charges.

The Carer's Kit is a reference tool and contains details on handling, feeding, housing and releasing wild native animals. It is also a guide to performing first aid and identifying the first signs of illness. There are sections on mammals, birds, reptiles and frogs.
