Get staff involved
It’s important to get staff involved in the steps your business is taking to become more water efficient.
Here are some ideas:
- encourage staff to report leaks, for example ensure that cleaners—even if externally contracted—know where to report leaking taps and toilets
- display posters that educate and encourage staff to be more water efficient, download and print a free poster (PDF, 50K)* for your workplace
- ensure senior staff and managers model good behaviours in relation to water use
- identify water efficiency champions
- set targets and track your progress with staff
- display water usage and saving charts in the staffroom or kitchen
- make water usage updates a standing agenda item in meetings
- discuss and provide training about the water-efficient use of appliances and equipment
- send water saving ideas and progress reports to staff in newsletters, emails and bulletins
- include water efficiency policies and procedures in staff induction and training programs
- establish an incentive program that recognises staff with water saving ideas
- celebrate your success with staff.
