Waterwise Schools
To qualify as a Waterwise School, you must have implemented the Water: Learn it for life! program and demonstrated an improvement in your water-saving attitude and behaviour.
You must also have:
- nominated a ‘teacher champion’ to drive your school’s uptake of the program
- provided an updated curriculum plan** outlining how your school used the resource over two terms
- completed a school action plan (PDF, 429K)* for reducing water consumption based on your water audit
- provided updates of:
- water meter readings**
- in-class surveys (PDF, 21K)* (completed by students in years 3 to 7)
- distributed and collected a follow-up home water audit (PDF, 445K)* (completed by one year level)
- completed a teacher feedback survey on the curriculum resource
- submitted any other available evidence demonstrating increased awareness or responsibility for water use.

Formal recognition
Formal recognition means that you will be registered on the Water: Learn it for life! website as a Waterwise School, and will receive a certificate acknowledging your status.
You will also:
- be eligible to be considered for a $500 award †
- receive the benefit of any media coverage generated from a NRW media release.
- be notified of new materials as they become available.
† Schools are eligible to receive one $500 award only.
Maintaining your status
To maintain your status as a Waterwise School, you must update your information annually.
