Cash awards

During 2008–09, $30,000 is available in awards to schools participating in the Waterwise Schools Recognition Program.
Winners must demonstrate excellent waterwise attitudes and behaviour and an ongoing commitment to the Water: Learn it for life! program.
A panel from the Department of Environment and Resource Management will judge eligible schools and make recommendations to the Minister.
All awards must be used to resource water education in the school.
Waterwise schools
On a six-monthly basis, awards of $500* will be issued to up to ten registered Waterwise schools judged to have been the most successful in achieving waterwise outcomes and/or to have been the most effective in implementing the Water: Learn it for life! program.
* Schools are eligible to receive one $500 award only.
Lighthouse Waterwise Schools of Excellence
Awards of $5,000** will be issued to five registered Lighthouse Waterwise Schools of Excellence, which are judged to have been most successful in implementing the program, and have demonstrated excellent waterwise attitudes and behaviour.
