Year 1
My Friend Whizzy
The Year 1 unit, My Friend Whizzy, is designed to help students develop an understanding of how precious water is and how it can be conserved.
The unit aligns with the Science and SOSE (Studies of Society and Environment) Essential Learnings and uses Whizzy's Incredible Journey—Pick-a-Path book as one of the core foundations for the lesson plans and activities. Whizzy the waterdrop features throughout this unit and plays a major role in introducing the Waterwise message and water science concepts.
This unit incorporates four mini-inquiries which are designed to be engaging, stimulating and challenging, providing meaningful hands-on experiences for Year 1 students.
