Waterwise Councils


A package of Waterwise resources has been developed for Queensland councils to support community awareness and education about water conservation and water efficiency.  

A number of the resources can be downloaded from this website in a high-resolution format ready for printing. Councils have the option to co-brand the resources by completing a co-branding deed.

Councils intending to use the resources are asked to provide their contact details and a list of the resources they intend to use.

Guidelines to assist councils access and use the Waterwise package are also available for download.

How to be waterwise brochure

Targeted at residents, this brochure (PDF, 2.7M)* provides simple tips on how to conserve water inside and outside the home.

This brochure is provided as a high-resolution file with trim lines suitable for professional printing.

Home waterwise quiz

This quick and simple quiz enables residents to gauge their water-efficient behaviour at home. This product is available as either an A5 brochure (PDF, 426K)* or  A4 information sheet (PDF, 195K)* .  Both versions include a quiz for residents to quickly and easily analyse how they use water around the home. Examples of a range of both positive and negative water use behaviours are provided for residents to check against to measure their water use efficiency. The brochure also includes water saving tips for both inside and outside the home.

The brochure is available to download as a high-resolution file with trim lines suitable for professional printing.

The information sheet can be downloaded and printed in-house.

Being waterwise in the bathroom, laundry and kitchen

Targeted at adult urban residents, this information sheet  (PDF, 102K)*  explains how to measure current water consumption (including meter reading), and highlights the links between water use, energy use and environmental sustainability. It also suggests ways to be water effiecient in these three areas of the house.

This information sheet is provided as a high-resolution file with trim lines ready to supply to your professional printer.

Being waterwise with your pool and spa

This information sheet provides advice to pool and spa owners to help minimise water waste. It focuses on pool covers, maintaining water levels, backwashing, leaks, and pool design and maintenance. The information sheet includes important details for those who have a pool, as well as those intending to install one.

This information sheet (PDF, 107K)* can be downloaded and printed in-house.

Alternatively a high-resolution version of the information sheet (PDF, 407K)* with trim lines is suitable for professional printing.

Resources for accommodation operators

Resources are now available to support accommodation operators (e.g. hotels, motels, bed and breakfast providers, backpacker hostels and caravan parks).

Shower timer card

Four-minute shower timers are a great way to encourage waterwise behaviour inside the home. This compact information card (PDF, 62K)* is designed to attach to a four-minute shower timer. The card provides waterwise tips and is able to be co-branded by councils.

The information card is provided in a high-resolution format with trim lines suitable for professional printing.

Recommended printing specifications:

Full colour print, double sided, 90mm x 55mm, die cut as per spot colour marking.

Some printing firms will be able to offer assembly services (placing the timers into the card slot).

Waterwise Gardens Resources

Gardens are potential 'water guzzlers'. The waterwise gardens brochure and information sheets contain simple tips to help residents establish and maintain a water-efficient garden and reduce their reliance on town water.
