Urban demand management guidelines

Demand management is essential to securing Queensland’s water supplies into the future.

The Department of Environment and Resource Management has developed four regulatory urban demand management guidelines to assist water service providers implement the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008

  1. Guideline for Preparing an Outdoor Water Use Conservation Plan 
  2. Guideline for Preparing a Water Efficiency Management Plan Outside SEQ 
  3. Guideline for the Provision of a Water Advice to Non-Owner Residents 
  4. Guidelines for Issuing a Rate Notice or Account for the Supply of Water to Residential Premises 

These guidelines will assist providers outside of South East Queensland (SEQ) or in a designated region to put into place several urban demand management regulatory measures.

Amendments made to the Act in April 2011 remove the requirement to prepare:

The requirements for providers to issue water advice notices in accordance with the legislation is maintained.
