Far North Queensland Draft Regional Water Supply Strategy

The Far North Queensland 2010 Regional Plan (PDF)* (Local Government and Planning PDF, 4.6 MB)* confirmed the need for a medium- to long-term plan to ensure a water supply to meet future irrigation and urban requirements in the Atherton Tablelands and Cairns region.

With the department as lead agency, the Queensland Government, in partnership with local governments, developed the Far North Queensland Draft Regional Water Supply Strategy, which was released on 25 September 2007. Submissions from interested individuals or entities closed on November 14 2007. All submissions will be considered in the finalisation of the strategy.
