Vegetation management offsets

In certain circumstances, vegetation offsets provide a mechanism for development to proceed while ensuring the long-term conservation of remnant regional ecosystems.

Amendments have been made to the Department of Environment and Resource Management's Policy for vegetation management offsets (PDF)*. These took effect on 6 November 2009.

Under this policy, offsets may be a means of meeting relevant performance requirements of an applicable code (such as a regional vegetation management code) under the Vegetation Management Act.

Previous offset policies are now superseded.
