Tully and Murray rivers
The study area, which encompasses the Tully, Murray and Hull rivers and their tributaries, and the coastal streams between the catchments of the Murray and Herbert rivers, covers 2910 km square kilometres. The principle stream is the Tully River, with a total length of approximately 130 km. From its source in the Cardwell Range, it flows north for about 50 km before turning eastward and finally discharging into the sea at Rockingham Bay. Its major tributaries include the Jarra, Davidson and Banyan creeks.
One hundred and ninety subsections make up the catchment area, 143 of which were surveyed. Within these surveyed subsections 254 full survey sites and 3 ‘photograph only’ sites were identified.
