Lockyer Creek
The study area, which encompasses Lockyer Creek and its tributaries—a catchment area of about 2890 km2—accounts for almost one-quarter of the Brisbane River catchment.
Lockyer Creek flows in an easterly direction for some 100 km from the Great Dividing Range to its confluence with the Brisbane River near Lowood. Its major tributaries include the Laidley, Tenthill, Ma Ma and Buaraba creeks, which account for roughly half of the Lockyer Creek catchment.
Seventy-six subsections were identified in the study area, of which 71 were surveyed.
Five were not surveyed due to difficulties with access, or because there was a lack of defined streams.
One hundred and thirty sites were identified within surveyed subsections, of which 128 were ‘full survey’ sites and two were ‘photograph only’.
