Soil publications
The department holds an extensive collection of information on Queensland soils, land systems, climate, land-use, land suitability and land capability—which provides a description of landscapes and their characteristics and attributes for land management and planning.
To obtain a copy of soil and land resource publications for a regional area, email Productdelivery@derm.qld.gov.au. Publications are available for the following regions:
- North (PDF, 24K)*
- Central West (PDF, 19K)*
- South East (PDF, 22K)*
- South West (PDF, 22K)*
- Others (non-regional) (PDF, 13K)*
Online resources
Reports, manuals and maps relating to soils and land resources can be viewed and downloaded by browsing:
View a list of regional technical reports available through QDEX or by contacting the department.
Spatially enabled searches for reports, manuals and maps are available through the Interactive Resource and Tenure Maps site (IRTM).
IRTM allows the user to search for information over an area of interest and discover report details, mapping scale and availability of digital data. Search results are linked to QDEX, allowing direct access to the reports and maps of the area of interest.

Soil and land resources spatial data is not currently available online but can be requested in ESRI format by emailing Productdelivery@derm.qld.gov.au.
