Valuer - General (Neil Bray)
The Valuer-General, Neil Bray, is the independent head of the State Valuation Service and is accountable for delivering statutory land valuations in Queensland.
The powers and responsibilities of the Valuer-General include:
- directing, controlling and managing the statutory valuation of land in accordance with the Land Valuation Act 2010
- overseeing Quality Assurance and Peer Review activities
- implementing ongoing improvements to the valuation system in Queensland
- maintaining the valuation roll
- amending valuations due to changes affecting land such as subdivisions, amalgamations and rezonings
- issuing annual and maintenance valuations
- determining when local governments do not receive an annual valuation
- determining the configuration of properties on the valuation roll
- obtaining property characteristics relevant to valuations
- supplying valuation related information
- determining and administering valuation objection outcomes
- being the respondent in valuation related appeals and provision of supporting evidence
- suppressing personal details on the valuation roll – Application for Suppression Direction (Form 63)
- providing data to the Commonwealth Grants Commission.
The State Valuation Service, within the Department of Environment and Resource Management, comprises of four business units that report directly to the Valuer-General, these being:
- The Office of the Valuer-General
- Valuation Operations – State Valuation Service
- Policy and Legislation
- Queensland Valuation and Sales (QVAS)
