Proposal to name Dyas Creek within the Croydon and Etheridge Shire Councils local government areas

In accordance with the Place Names Act 1994, notice is given that the Minister for Finance, Natural Resources and The Arts is considering a proposal to name Dyas Creek in the Croydon and Etheridge Shire Councils local government areas.

Dyas Creek is located north of the town of Croydon, extends westward from its source at Strathmore Station in Strathmore and converges with Rocky Creek at Clotilda Station in Karran.

Background

The creek is to be named after Sub-Inspector George Dyas who joined the Queensland Police in 1864 and was killed in action in the area in 1881.
