Historical photographs of Queensland
This collection of over 550 photographs, the oldest dating from the 1860s, depicts the early history and settlement of Queensland. It comprises photographs taken by state government photographers, donations from private collections, and photographs from the John Oxley historical archive.
The range is considerable including photos of Brisbane and regional centres such as Allora, Bundaberg, Cairns, Charters Towers, Cooktown, Maryborough, Mt. Morgan, Toowoomba, Townsville and Warwick. It also includes images of many rural scenes depicting subjects such as pioneer men and women, horse-drawn harvesting and threshing machines, and bullock teams.
The photographs were mostly captured on 8 x 10 inch (203 x 254 mm) glass plate negatives which have been copied to film then digitised to ensure preservation of the original negatives.

Availability
Photographs are reproduced to order onto photographic quality paper ranging in size up to AO (841mm x 1189mm) and are available in either black & white or sepia (brown) tones.
A CD catalogue listing details of the locations and subjects of each of the photographs has been prepared together with digital images scanned at 75 dpi and saved in JPeg (.JPG) format.
