Entries
All entries will become the property of the Queensland Government and will not be returned to entrants. The Queensland Government may use, modify, adapt and reproduce any information contained in the entries.
The judging panel may ask entrants to provide additional information.
Entrants must be willing to participate in publicity activities, and may be required to provide photographs or other materials for promotional activities. Information in entries may be reproduced for promotional purposes.
Entries that are misleading, or include activities that do not comply with Queensland law will be withdrawn from the judging process.
All decisions of the judging panel are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
While the awards focus on recognition and reward for business, communities and individuals, the Queensland Government will not endorse specific causes, projects or organisations.
Supporting information
If you deem it necessary to provide supporting documentation (e.g. graphs or statistics) to substantiate claims made in your entry, you may do so. However, this is not a condition of entry, and will not necessarily enhance your chance of success.
- Supporting evidence is restricted to 3 MB (e.g. of Word, Excel or PDF files). The department will not accept documents over this size.
- Online entrants may supply this as attachments to an email to Premier's Awards.
Those mailing their entries should include printed hard copies, a CD or a DVD.
Projects
Eligibility in more than one category
You may nominate in more than one award category (e.g. a project you have entered in the Business Eco-efficiency Award may also be a contender for the Leadership Award). However, you must complete a separate entry form for each category in which you enter.
Although a project may be entered in any number of categories it will only be recognised as a finalist and winner in one category. If the judging panel endorse an exemplar nomination already a finalist or winner, it may also be recommended as the winner of the Premier’s Award.
Projects already receiving government funding
Projects that are already receiving Queensland Government funding (e.g. ecoBiz Network, ecoBiz, QSEIF) are still eligible to enter the awards provided that the funded activity is ongoing or was/is being implemented between 1 March 2011 and 16 March 2012.
Projects need not be 'new'
Projects entered in the 2011 Premier’s Sustainability Awards can be re-entered in the current award program as long as the activity is ongoing or was carried out between 1 March 2011 and 16 March 2012. However, you must complete the necessary paperwork for the 2012 awards.
Though projects must have been implemented by 16 March 2011, you can base your nomination on the built-in sustainability features and practices used during the construction phase of the project.
How entries are judged
Officers from the department will examine each submission and create a shortlist of ‘highly recommended’ submissions.
An independent judging panel comprising industry, community and academia representatives, as well as Queensland Government senior management, then access each shortlisted submission to determine the finalists and winners.
In finalising their decision, the judges may wish to conduct a site inspection at a time and date to be arranged with the entrant. The decision to do so is for information purposes only, and in no way indicates preference or otherwise for a submission.
The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prizes
Category winners will receive $5,000 towards their initiative and ongoing commitment to sustainable practices.
Announcement of winners
Finalists and winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 8 June 2012. Winners will be expected to come up on stage to collect their award from the category sponsor or Queensland Government representative.
You can purchase tickets to the event or call 07 3225 1764 for further information.
Tickets for the awards' presentation dinner
Paper tickets are not issued to the awards’ presentation dinner. However as the dinner has allocated seating, there will be a registration desk and floor plans displayed in the pre-function area of the Plaza Ballroom at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre for you to check your table allocation when you arrive on the night.
