Regional ecosystem status

Regional ecosystems are vegetation communities that are consistently associated with a particular combination of geology, landform and soil. In Queensland, regional ecosystems are being used increasingly for detailed nature conservation planning, as a surrogate for biodiversity.

The status of a regional ecosystem is classified as 'endangered', 'of concern' or 'not of concern', depending on various extent and degradation criteria.
