Walkers' camps

QPWS provides walkers' camps at Jabiru Swamp, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Benaroon, Central Station, Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby, Valley of the Giants and Lake Garawongera. All except Jabiru Swamp have access to a toilet, and all have access to platform seats and water (treat before drinking).

You can stay at each campsite for a maximum of two nights in a row and your group should have no more than eight people.

Beach camping is also available within restricted areas. Signs along the beach indicate where you can camp. No facilities are provided and there is no access to drinking water.

Getting a permit

You must have a permit to camp on Fraser Island and fees apply. This applies to using walkers' camps and beach camping.

Commercial accommodation

A range of motel-style, self-contained and campground accommodation is available in and around the townships of Happy Valley, Eurong, Eastern Beach, Cathedral Beach, Kingfisher Bay, Orchid Beach and Dilli Village.
