Vehicle access permits

A vehicle access permit must be obtained before driving on Bribie Island, Fraser IslandMoreton Island and Cooloola recreation areas—fees apply.

All vehicles must be registered and have a valid permit attached to the left side of the vehicle's windscreen. If the vehicle does not have a windscreen the permit must be displayed in another prominent position. Write your booking number on the blank vehicle label available on arrival at the park.

Bookings

Ensure you obtain your permit before entering a recreation area. Permits may be purchased online, at an over-the-counter booking office or by phone on 13 QGOV (13 74 68).

Note: Visitors purchasing monthly or yearly permits for both Fraser and Cooloola for the same duration will receive a 20% discount on the cost of the two permits.

Replacement or permit detail change

To request replacement of a lost or destroyed vehicle access permit, or to change the name, address or vehicle stated in the permit, please send the following documents to:

Change of name, address or registration on permit

A letter requesting change of name, address or registration of a vehicle access permit with current booking number; and for a change in registration:

  1. A copy of the registration certificate of the vehicle to which the permit currently applies.
  2. A copy of the registration certificate of the vehicle to which the permit is now to apply.
  3. The original vehicle access permit.

Replacement of lost or destroyed permit

  1. A letter requesting replacement of lost or destroyed vehicle access permit.
  2. A copy of the registration certificate of the vehicle to which the permit currently applies.
  3. A statutory declaration that the vehicle access permit has been lost or destroyed.
  4. A $6.60 replacement fee.

Exemption from Vehicle Access Permit fees

Permanent residents that must access the recreation area to get to their residence and their relatives, landholders and people accessing the recreation area for employment (including people who run educational excursions) can apply for a fee-exempt vehicle permit, nominating their vehicle. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria.
