Bushwalking
Every day, hundreds of people flock to national parks and other protected areas around Queensland to enjoy the simple pleasures of a bush picnic, the joy of seeing native animals in the wild, or the chance to simply relax.
For a closer encounter with nature, go bushwalking. Walking tracks take you to places you cannot reach in your car. And most tracks have been graded to make walking easy.
See the different plants that grow beside the track, from delicate ferns to towering trees. Catch a glimpse of a yellow robin flitting among the overhanging branches. Gaze in wonder at a picture-perfect view. Feel invigorated, despite your tired legs!
Particularly the shorter tracks on many parks are popular. Choose your park and track carefully. Time your walk for early morning or mid-week or walk some distance to get away from the crowds.
Choose a walk to suit you, from short tracks for strollers and wheelchairs to long hikes that require considerable stamina. And remember - bushwalking is fun!
