Camping in Palmerston, Wooroonooran National Park
The Henrietta Creek camping area is near the Palmerston Highway. South Johnstone camping area, a tent camping site in the Misty Mountains, is 12.3 km from the highway.
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Henrietta Creek camping area
Camping area features: grassy camping area next to Henrietta Creek, surrounded by rainforest. A starting point for rainforest walks.
Location: just off the Palmerston Highway, 38 km from Innisfail.
Access: the camping area can be reached by conventional vehicle.
Number of sites: 3 numbered sites, and about 20 unnumbered sites.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car; caravans; camper trailers; small and large motorhomes; large groups.
Camp site surface: grass.
Facilities: composting toilets, picnic tables, gas barbecues.
Open fires: prohibited.
Generators: only generators that operate at or below 65dB(A) at 7 m are allowed. Generators may be operated only between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm.

South Johnstone camping area
Camping area features: shady camp sites near the bank of the South Johnstone River. Main activities include swimming and short walks.
Location: 12.3 km from the Palmerston Highway, via K-tree Road and 2.4 km from the western Gorrell trailhead.
Access: the camping area can be reached by foot and by conventional vehicles. It is not accessible for caravans or motor homes.
Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites that can accommodate about five small tents.
Camp sites are suitable for: car camping or walk-in camping. Vehicles must be left in the parking area and gear has to be carried a short distance to the camping area. Camper trailers can be used in the car park.
Camp site surface: grass.
Facilities: 3 picnic tables with large shelters and hybrid toilets. Creek water is available but should be boiled or chemically treated before drinking.
Open fires: prohibited. Fuel stoves are recommended.
Generators: only generators that operate at or below 65dB(A) at 7 m are allowed. Generators may be operated only between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm.
