Welcome

Welcome to the Whitsundays, home to the Ngaro people for at least the past 9000 years. Many sites throughout the Whitsundays hold special meaning for Ngaro descendents and are a continuing connection to Country. The Ngaro people welcome you to their homeland and hope you enjoy your visit.

Location

Continental islands lying off the Queensland coast 10–40 km south-east of Airlie Beach

What's special

Jewel-green islands sparkle in an aquamarine ocean. Secluded beaches, coral reefs and towering hoop pines complete the picture—all are part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The Whitsundays is also home to the Whitsunday Ngaro Sea Trail, a unique blend of seaways and picturesque walks.
