Location

Thirteen parks surround the Central West Queensland town of Longreach—12 are open to visitors, and nine have vehicle access to the park.

What's special

The parks of Central West Queensland protect a variety of ecosystems and unspoilt scenery including wetlands, floodplains and channel country, rocky and tree-covered scarp, spinifex-clad sand dunes, Mitchell grass downs, coolibah woodlands, mesas and plateaus. Historical and cultural sites add to the distinctive appeal of these parks.
