The Queensland Government has committed to establishing six new artificial reefs in Moreton Bay Marine Park, at a cost of $2 million. The new artificial reefs will provide recreational anglers with new fishing opportunities after sections of the marine park were zoned as marine national park (green) zones on 1 March 2009, prohibiting all types of fishing. All six locations have now been confirmed.
