Camping in D'Aguilar National Park

D’Aguilar National Park has two formal campgrounds in Mount Mee section (Neurum Creek and Archer), eight remote bush camp sites in south D'Aguilar section (formally Brisbane Forest Park).

Remote bush camp sites are only accessible by walking, and minimal facilities are provided. You will need to be physically fit, have bushwalking and navigation experience, and have an emergency plan in place with a responsible friend or family member. Always carry a topographic map, compass, first-aid kit, water and food. Mobile phone reception within the park is unreliable.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Park-specific conditions

Bush camp sites in D’Aguilar National Park may be closed during periods of high fire danger or for regenerative purposes. Check park alerts for the latest information on access, closures and conditions

Due to the small size of the camp sites and designated car spaces at Neurum Creek and Archer campgrounds in Mount Mee section, they are not suitable for campervans, trailers or caravans.

To navigate the exact location of bush camp sites in south D’Aguilar section you will require a topographic map and the specific map grid reference for your pre-booked camp site.

Neurum Creek campground

Campground features: Camping close to Neurum Creek in an enclosed forest setting.

Location: Off Neurum Creek Road, about 6.3 km from the southern access to the park (Sellin Road, via The Gantry) and about 13.5 km from the northern access to the park (Woodford end). See the Mount Mee forest trail and drive map (PDF, 197K)* for camp site location.

Access: The campground is not suitable for trailers, caravans or campervans. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended.

Number of sites: 13 numbered sites. Maximum of 6 people per site.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car and walk-in camping.

Camp site surface: Raised dirt pads.

Facilities: Water (boil or treat before drinking), septic toilets and fireplaces.

Open fires: Permitted in the fireplace provided, except when fire bans or prohibitions apply. Bring your own firewood—untreated, milled timber off-cuts are recommended. Do not bring in or collect bush wood. Fuel stoves are recommended.

Generators: Prohibited.

Essentials to bring: Rubbish bags, firewood, insect repellent and first-aid kit. A fuel or gas stove is recommended for cooking.

Archer campground

• Archer campground map (PDF, 125K)*

Campground features:  An open, grassy, family friendly, natural bush setting near Neurum Creek.

Location: On Lovedays Road, about 1 km from the northern access to the park (Woodford end) and about 16 km from the southern access to the park (Sellin Road via The Gantry). See the Mount Mee forest trail and drive map (PDF, 197K)* for camp site location.

Access: The campground can be reached by conventional vehicle from the north via Woodford. From the south, via The Gantry, it is only accessible by four-wheel-drive vehicles. It is not suitable for trailers, caravans or campervans.

Number of sites: 9 campsites spread over an open grassy area.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping close to your car, walk-in camping, large groups.

Camp site surface: Grass.

Facilities: Water (boil or treat before drinking), septic toilets and fireplaces.

Scrub Road bush camp

Campground features: Remote bush camping in open eucalypt woodland among magnificent spotted gums, ironbarks and grey gums.

Location: From Mount Glorious Road, the camp site is accessed after walking 4 km along Scrub Road. Along the way, stop at Enoggera Creek to enjoy the stunning scenery of the headwaters. Scrub Road is a 15-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap. An alternative route to the camp site is walking 5.8 km along South Boundary Road, off Mount Nebo Road. Camp site surface: Dirt.

Facilities: Water tank and shelter. All water obtained in the park must be boiled or treated before drinking.

Dundas Road bush camp

Campground features: Remote bush camping in open eucalypt forest. Enjoy picturesque wet eucalypt forest on your walk to the camp site. This is the most easily accessible remote camp site in the park.

Location: From Mount Nebo Road, the camp site is accessed by walking 1.6 km along Dundas Road. Dundas Road is a about a 25-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap and can be accessed from behind the Mount Nebo waste transfer station. Access: The camp site is walk-in only. A topographic map is required to find the camp site—map grid reference: 758 708.

Number of sites: Open area with no separately-defined sites. Maximum camp site capacity is 15 people (5 x 3-person tents).

Camp sites are suitable for: walk-in camping only.

Camp site surface: Dirt.

Facilities: Water tank with roof. All water obtained in the park must be boiled or treated before drinking.

Light Line Road bush camp

Campground features: Remote bush camping in open eucalypt woodland surrounded by bloodwoods, grey gums and tallowwoods. The uncommon shrub, Goodenia ovata, shows off its yellow flowers in spring and autumn along the road edge on the walk in.

Location: From the park boundary at Forestry Road, Mount Nebo, the camp site is accessed by walking 1.7 km along Light Line Road. Forestry Road is a 20-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap. See the South D'Aguilar forest trail map (PDF, 881K)* for approximate camp site location.

Access: The camp site is walk-in only. A topographic map is required to find the camp site—map grid reference: 778 675.

Number of sites: Open area without separately-defined sites. Maximum camp site capacity is 6 people (2 x 3-person tents).

Northbrook Mountain bush camp

Campground features: Remote bush camping on a high ridge overlooking Kipper Creek in wet sclerophyll forest. Northbrook Mountain summit is approximately a 15-minute walk from the camp site. The summit affords extensive views looking south across the England Creek catchments and is covered in mountain heath, where wildflowers bloom between winter and spring.

Location: From Mount Glorious Road, this camp site is accessed via Lawton Road (about a 45 minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap). Along the 4.7 km walk, take in the beautiful subtropical rainforest and wet sclerophyll scenery. Access: The camp site is walk-in only. A topographic map is required to find the camp site—map grid reference: 717 776. It can be used as a stopover on the longer walk to England Creek bush camp.

Middle Kobble bush camp

Campground features: Remote bush camping in an open grassy area next to Kobble Creek, in the remote northern section of the park. A short walk takes you to the top of Kobble Creek waterfall. Keep an eye out for the prehistoric-looking Lepidozamia (cycads) on your walk to the bush camp. Skinks and keelbacks (freshwater snakes) can be seen basking on the rocks at the top of Kobble Creek waterfall. Bottlebrush plants flower along the creek beside the bush camp in spring.

Location: From Mount Glorious Road, the camp site is accessed by walking 4.7 km along the Lepidozamia track and Middle Kobble firebreak. The Lepidozamia track entrance is about a 50-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap. Allow 3−4 hours for the predominantly uphill walk out, ascending 350 m in elevation with steep sections. England Creek bush camp

Campground features: Remote bush camping in the remote middle section of the park, alongside picturesque England Creek. There are several water holes along England Creek Road, 10 minutes south of the camp site. Look out for native daisies along the road edge flowering spring to summer. Pink rock orchids and tongue orchids can be seen growing on rock cuttings on Joyners Ridge Road in spring.

Location: From Mount Glorious Road, the camp site is accessed by walking 10.5 km along Lawton, England Creek, and Joyners Ridge Roads. Lawton Road is a 45-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap. See the South D'Aguilar forest trail map (PDF, 881K)* for approximate camp site location.

Access: The camp site's only access is by walking along unmarked trails through steep terrain. You will need to be physically fit and have bushwalking and navigation skills, and have an emergency plan in place with a responsible friend or family member.
