Camping information

Camping in Cape Upstart National Park

Bush camping is permitted at Coconut Beach. Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.

Please camp with minimum impact and take all rubbish with you when you leave. Read more about caring for parks and forests and camping in this region.

Be alert and prepared for changes in weather.

Beware of marine stingers, especially from October to May. 

Beware of estuarine crocodiles in Coconut Bay.

Coconut Beach camping area

Campground features: Camp on the beach beside Coconut Bay.

Location: Coconut Beach.

Access: Boat only.

Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites.

Campsites are suitable for: Tent camping only.

Campsite surface: Sand.

Facilities: None.

Open fires: Prohibited. Fuel stoves are recommended.

Generators: Not allowed, except for medical reasons (with DERM permission).

Essentials to bring: All food and drinking water, sturdy rubbish bags, insect repellent, sun protection, first aid kit, reliable torch, marine radio.

Bookings: Book onlineover-the-counter or by phone.

Mobile phone coverage: Generally not available; satellite phones and marine radios recommended.
