Getting there and getting around
Cape Upstart is on the coast between Ayr and Bowen. There is no vehicle access within the park. Access to Coconut Beach is by boat only. Launch your boat at ramps south of Gumlu, at Molongle Creek or the Elliot River near Guthalungra.
Camping and accommodation
Bush camping is permitted at Coconut Beach. No facilities are provided and you must be totally self-sufficient. Camping permits are required and fees apply.

Things to do
This is a low-key park for self-sufficient visitors. Check with the Great Barrier Marine Park Authority for advice on activities permitted in the adjacent marine park waters.
Walking
Snake trail walk—300 m return (10 minutes) Grade: Easy
This easy walk runs alongside a salt pan and is accessible from Guthalungra.
Things to know before you go
You must be self-sufficient, including bringing your own drinking water, a fuel stove, first aid kit, insect repellent and reliable communication other than a mobile phone.
You must be prepared for emergencies. Mobile phone reception is unreliable. Call 000 (try 112 if this fails).
Be aware of the dangers posed by marine stingers and estuarine crocodiles.
