Welcome

Traditional Owners have a long and on-going relationship with the area that falls within Carnarvon National Park. The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) acknowledges the connection Aboriginal people have with this cultural heritage place, and asks that you treat the country through which you walk with respect and care.

Location

Carnarvon National Park lies within a vast, elevated section of sandstone country in central Queensland, approximately 600km northwest of Brisbane and 300km southwest of Rockhampton.

Walk the trails of the Carnarvon Great Walk to experience a remote and beautiful landscape of towering sandstone cliffs, sweeping tablelands and shaded side-gorges.
