Bush camping is permitted in most places in Bulburin National Park—the former forestry barracks site is an ideal location. Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.
Park-specific conditions
There are no facilities in Bulburin National Park and visitors must be self-sufficient and prepared for emergencies.
Camping is only permitted in existing clear areas and at least 10 m away from creek banks.
Camping is not permitted in the adjoining State forest plantation.

Bulburin bush camping
Camping features: tranquil surroundings in an undeveloped setting.
Location: camping is permitted at most places in Bulburin National Park. A popular place to camp is the old forestry barracks site at the top of the range along Bulburin Forest Road—16 km from Builyan and 33 km from the Bruce Highway.
Access: Bulburin National Park and the old forestry barracks site can be reached via Builyan in a 2WD vehicle in dry weather only. Access from the Bruce Highway on the Granite Creek Forestry Road is possible for 4WD vehicles only in dry weather. It is not accessible for trailers, caravans or motorhomes. Number of sites: open areas without separately defined sites. Maximum of 10 people per camp.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your vehicle.
Campsite surface: dirt/grass.
Facilities: none.
Open fires: allowed (except when fire bans apply). Bring your own clean, milled timber for firewood. Please keep your campfire at least 2 m clear of grass and trees. Fuel stoves are recommended to minimise impacts.
Generators: not allowed.
Essentials to bring: all food and drinking water, sturdy rubbish bags, insect repellent, sun protection, remote-area first-aid kit, reliable torch, and communications equipment. Read more about things to know before you go.
Bookings: book online, over-the-counter or by phone.
Mobile phone coverage: poor; satellite phones, UHF radios and EPIRBs recommended.
