Native title protection conditions
Native title protection conditions are tenure conditions of an exploration permit for minerals and coal granted under the Expedited Procedure.
The native title protection conditions identify:
- which native title party or parties the explorer must engage;
- what the explorer and the native title party must do before and during any exploration; and
- what occurs when timeframes specified in the native title protection conditions are not met.
Native title protection conditions (PDF, 355K)*
The explorer is required to make certain payments to a body nominated by the native title parties. The amount of these payments is adjusted on the 1st of July each year in accordance with the consumer price index for Brisbane.
Native title protection conditions payments (PDF, 18K)*
The explorer and the native title parties are required to send written notice to each other.
