1827
Allan Cunningham discovered the pass now named in his honour that provided an easier inland passage across the Great Dividing Range.
1837
Steamships arrived in Brisbane for the first time, the first being the James Watt.
1839
Moreton Bay lost its status as a penal settlement. All convicts were returned to Sydney.
