Boston citizens revolted against the British government by dumping newly arrived tea into the bay.  The revolt was later known as the Boston Tea Party.

1775

American Revolution began at Lexington, Massachusetts.

James Watt invented the rotary steam engine – a huge driving force in the Industrial Revolution.

The French Revolution began with the storming of the Bastille.

British and Prussian forces defeated Napolean at the Battle of Waterloo.

The principles of the electric motor demonstrated by Faraday.

1824

Beethovin's 9th Symphony released to the music world.
