Land Manager's Monitoring Guide
The Land Manager's Monitoring Guide provides a suite of natural resource monitoring information to assist land managers in monitoring and demonstrating the results of more sustainable management actions.
The Land Manager’s Monitoring Guide may assist with monitoring the impacts of management actions for purposes such as:
- improved management, property level planning and long term sustainability
- implementing Environmental Management Systems and Farm Management Systems
- monitoring progress of agreed actions under a Land Management Agreements under the Delbessie Agreement (State Rural Leasehold Land Strategy)
- supporting monitoring activities by local landcare groups, catchment groups or regional natural resource management bodies.
The guide is a developing resource that will be added to as further development work occurs. Progressively, monitoring material for approximately 50 property level indicators will be added to the guide. If you would like to be kept informed of the guide's progress you can subscribe to the email group to receive updates.
Land managers can choose the monitoring indicator/s most relevant to their own situation and property management objectives by browsing through the indicator selection tool that links enterprises or production systems, land practices and management activities to potential environmental impacts and indicators.
The guide also provides:
- a section on the key aspects of monitoring such as: planning to monitor, managing data and why monitor
- a section about the guide itself that details how to use of the guide, ackowledgments and who contact for further information.
The Landholder's Monitoring Guide replaces the Natural Resource Monitoring Guide (NR&M 1999) that is now out of print.
