Disaster mapping
As the lead agency for spatial information in Queensland the department works with other state, federal and local government agencies to capture data, to assist with disaster response and recovery activities.
South West Queensland 2012 floods
The department is producing maps and data to assist with response and recovery activities associated with flooding in South West Queensland.
Maps
The department has produced a number of maps to aid the community response and recovery teams. These maps have an aerial photograph background and additional information such as roads, property boundaries, street address, elevation and community features.

Data
Flood lines
The department is capturing flood lines from the available aerial photography. A 2012 flood line dataset is available to download for free from the Queensland Government Information Service (QGIS).
The dataset can be obtained by searching the following terms under section 2 'Type of data' at the bottom of the QGIS web page:
Search terms – "Flood lines South West Queensland 2012" (include the inverted commas)
Topic category – select the Any topic category
Data source – select Department of Environment and Resource Management
This dataset will be updated as flood line capture is completed over towns.
For Geographic Information System (GIS) users, a Web Map Service (WMS) has been created to allow viewing of the flood line within a GIS. The address for the Web Map Service is;
http://wms.derm.qld.gov.au/service/land/imagery/QLD_Floods/QLD_FLOOD_LINE_2012/MapServer/WMSServer?
If you experience problems accessing the WMS from your GIS software please contact SassSupport@derm.qld.gov.au
Queensland Reconstruction Authority
The Queensland Reconstruction Authority has published before and after comparison images over Charleville, Mitchell, Roma and St George. It is expected that flood imagery and lines will be added to the interactive maps as information becomes available. PDF maps showing the flood line will also be published as they become available.

More information on the range of data and imagery available from the department can be found in the Resource centre.
