Privacy and security statement
Your privacy
The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) is committed to protecting user privacy. We understand and appreciate that visitors and users of this web site are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information they may provide to us.
The Information Privacy Act 2009 provides for access and amendment rights for government-held personal information. Obligations are identified for the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information with new complaints mechanism.
You can view a copy of DERM’s Information Privacy Plan online. This plan details the steps this department will take to address its obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2009.
Use of cookies, web bugs or other similar information technologies
The only part of this website which uses cookies is the SmartMap order form. It does so to preserve personal information provided by people who use the form online—this makes it easier for them to complete future orders. This information is collected by the order form and stored in a cookie only if the person submits an order. The only time DERM will access this information is when the person returns to use the SmartMap order form again.

When you view this web site, our server records your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only—the user's server address; the user's top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, etc.); the date and time of the visit to the site; the pages accessed and documents downloaded; the previous site visited; and the type of browser used. No attempt is, or will be, made to identify users or their browsing activities except where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs in the event of an investigation.
