Conservation agreements

Establishing a Nature Refuge is the main mechanism for leaseholders to enter into a conservation agreement. The Nature Refuge program is an initiative of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to assist leaseholders to formally protect the significant natural and/or cultural values on their land.

Apart from the benefits of longer lease terms, and incentives that may be available through the EPA, many leaseholders are realising that future benefits can be achieved by marketing their products under a conservation label.
