Native forest and quarry resources

Photo of two people processing timberDERM Forest Products, the department’s commercial forestry business group, manages native forest timber production and the sale of quarry materials from State forests, timber reserves and other State-controlled lands across Queensland under the Forestry Act 1959 (PDF)* .

The group also administers permits for apiary sites and stock grazing on designated areas of State forest.

Forest Product's business goal is to maximise financial returns to the state from the sale of natural forest products and quarry materials on State lands, within social, environmental and cultural expectations. Its primary customers are timber processors and quarry operators

The group works in partnership with its key industry, community and government stakeholders to ensure the responsible management and efficient use of Queensland’s native forest and quarry resources for present and future generations.
