WSS-CRC projects
Waterways Scientific Services collaborates with the Cooperative Research Centre for Coastal Zone Estuary and Waterway Management (Coastal CRC) on a range of projects monitoring and assessing water quality and ecosystem health in Queensland.
WSS has links with projects in the Coastal CRC's Moreton, Port Curtis and Fitzroy focus regions and plays a leading role in the Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program, Pest Biota and Automated Monitoring tasks. The department modelling skills and water quality are used extensively in a number of the Coastal CRC's projects.
Future projects involving both the Coastal CRC and WSS include pest biota surveys in northern Queensland ports, a project looking at contamination by antifouling paints containing tributyltin, and a project developing tools for interpreting water quality data and presenting them on the internet.
