ANZECC projects with the department participation
Waterways Scientific Services are also involved in research and strategy development to reduce water pollution on a national and international level through the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC). These projects include:
- Reducing the impacts of shipping operations on the marine environment: ANZECC strategy to protect the marine environment;
- Australian Ballast Water Management Strategy;
- Australian Oceans Policy;
The Queensland the department has contributed to several of the ANZECC reports, including:
- Best practice guidelines for waste reception facilities at ports, marinas and boat harbours in Australia and New Zealand;
- Survey of waste reception facilities in Australian ports, boat harbours and marinas; The Australian Marine Debris Status Review;
- Communicating with the Maritime Industry about sea areas sensitive to shipping and boating operations in Australia;
- Code of Practice for Antifouling and In-water Hull Cleaning and Maintenance
- Development and Piloting of a Waste Recording/Audit System for Small Commercial Vessels
- Development and Implementation of a Management/Auditing Strategy for Waste Reception Facilities at Ports, Marinas and Boat Harbours.
