Fish Kill Investigation
The Fish Kill Reporting and Investigation Manual was published in 1998 to provide a standard science-based protocol for responding to reported fish kill incidents.
Many fish kills have been investigated since 1998, ranging from a few fish to hundreds. These incidents are often caused by poor water quality, particularly oxygen depletion, which may be due to natural causes, but sometimes fish are poisoned by chemicals such as pesticides.
