Stream and Estuary Assessment Program

The Stream and Estuary Assessment Program (SEAP) is a monitoring, assessment and reporting program for aquatic ecological condition across Queensland. The SEAP program's specific objectives are to:

The Stream and Estuary Assessment Program: An Assessment Framework for Riverince Ecosystems (PDF, 467K)*, presents and discusses the SEAP framework and gives direction on further development of the program.

For the purpose of SEAP the state of Queensland has been divided into nine freshwater biogeographic provinces. Provinces are assesed on a rotational basis with one province assessed per year. To date SEAP has been completed in the Central Province and Wet Tropic Province with the findings of the monitoring presented in the reports below.
