About Waterways Scientific Services

The Waterways Scientific Services branch of the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency monitors water quality in rivers, estuaries and coastal areas throughout the eastern coast of Queensland. This data is used to create guidelines for water quality and to manage pollution in Queensland waterways.>
The branch also conducts investigations into water quality issues, participates in many nationally coordinated projects relating to water quality, is developing models to predict water quality in Queensland's waterways, and assisting local communities to manage and protect their waterways.
