State Planning Policy for Healthy Waters
The State Planning Policy 4/10 for Healthy Waters (SPP) (PDF, 470K)* and the State Planning Policy Guideline for Healthy Waters (PDF, 562K)* were approved in October 2010 and became effective on 2 May 2011, after extensive public information and training sessions.
The SPP will ensure that development for urban purposes under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, including community infrastructure, is planned, designed, constructed and operated to manage stormwater and waste water in ways that protect the environmental values prescribed in the Environmental Protection (Water) Policy 2009.
The SPP is supported technically by a number of documents including the Urban Stormwater Quality Planning Guidelines.
For further information about the SPP, refer to the frequently asked questions (PDF, 87K)* information sheet.
