reThink Business Waste Services - $750 subsidy

Introduction

To help Queensland businesses reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill, the Queensland Government is introducing the reThink Business Waste Services (RBWS) Program. Subsidies will assist businesses to review their existing waste management arrangements, and commit to improvement by introducing a new resource recovery service to divert more material from going to landfill.

What is available to businesses?

Right now, the Queensland Government is offering a $750 subsidy to eligible businesses to rethink their business waste.

How many subsidies are available?

While there are 7334 subsidies available, half are available for businesses inside South East Queensland (SEQ) and half are available for businesses in regional Queensland to ensure that regional businesses get fair access to the RBWS Program.

How to apply

Step 1—Check that the eligibility criteria for the RBWS Program can be met and download and read the Terms and Conditions (PDF, 496K)* (Version 1.2, 14th December 2011) before proceeding to step 2.

Step 2—Download the Waste Management Plan (word) (Word, 955K)‡ (pdf) (PDF, 120K)* template and complete.

Also, read ‘Guide to Reviewing Waste and Recycling Contracts and Service Agreements' (PDF, 224K)* before proceeding to step 3.

Step 3—Seek quotes from resource recovery service providers and commit to a new service agreement. Resource recovery service providers can be found at Planet Ark’s Business Recycling website.

Step 4

Log in to DERM’s online application system, to access the application form. Fill in the application form, upload your completed waste management plan, and provide details on the new or varied resource recovery service agreement entered into. Submit the application form.
