Cecile Espigole, Eco Queenslander Holiday Home and B&B

Thank you very much for a fantastic meeting yesterday. When I last saw John Quinn and his team, it was at a QWESTNet Forum in Mayrborough on 20 April 2010. I remember the date precisely because it was my birthday and I wondered for a few seconds ‘Do you really want to attend a Business environmental sustainability meeting on your birthday?’ The answer was a definite YES and little did I know at the time how much I would benefit from it… Back then, I didn’t know how to calculate our carbon footprint and it is the first thing that I did when I got home after John detailed how to do this.

Since that meeting a number of environmentally friendly initiatives have been completed and Eco Queenslander has:

More importantly, every year hundreds of visitors and guests get to see how old Queenslander homes can be retrofitted to enhance their sustainability and are encouraged to do the same at their home. Eco Queenslander provides a platform, to both home owners and businesses, that demonstrates that we can be gentler on our environment every day without compromising our comfort; and saving some money at the same time.

All the best with the ecoBiz Network which is replacing the QWESTNet. Please keep on coming to regional Queensland; there are so many of us out there that need your expertise and encouragement.

I love going to the QWESTNet forums because it is a fantastic place to meet people who are travelling down a similar path but in completely different, though often related, industries. Not only do you meet new people and network, it is a great forum to have your mind gently expanded to allow in new and exciting ideas and possible products and services. And the food is always good!

The QWESTNet forum held at the Bond University 18th May 2011, held my attention for the full duration of the forum. The time for each speaker was adequate and appropriate with sufficient time to outline the main points of the subject, without a protracted speech. As the Exhibitors interest is to communicate and expand their product range and services to other potential interests, forums such as the one referred to at the Bond University, is a vital instrument to achieve that objective.

Without these forums, many small and emerging companies would be out in the dark due to lack of direction and the networks that these forums provide, and may not eventuate to business success. I congratulate the QWESTNet team on their effort, and the way the forum was conducted, it is imperative that forums of this calibre continue for the future for the small and emerging companies in Queensland.

Nicki Stokes, QWESTNet Delegate

The QWESTNet forum was excellent. The limited guest speaker time resulted in presentations being punchy and focussed. The trade displays featured a good range of up-date technologies. I found the 'speed-meet & greet' an extremely effective and enjoyable way of networking. I have no doubt that businesses would find the expertise, products and people to assist them to make sustainability changes. I look forward attending many more!

The QWESTNet forum is a very good initiative as it enabled us to network directly with interested parties and establish connections that otherwise might have been difficult to realize.  The diversity of the speakers and the trade displays enhanced the success of the forum as did the professional setup and preparation.

Stephen Bell, Lexmark International (Australia) Pty Limited, QWESTNet Presenter

Good compact agenda that was designed to be informative & I think this was achieved. Also good interactivity through the networking & supplier desks. Thanks again for the opportunity & the well run event, it’s much appreciated.
